Birthday Fun!

This past Saturday was my birthday and I have to say that it was truly wonderful! First, Jason let me take a bubble bath without little hands banging on the bathroom door while he and Abby made me breakfast! It is so rare that I get to sit in the tub without feeling rushed so this alone would have made my birthday wonderful but the fun didn't stop there!
First though, Abby decided she wanted some dessert with her breakfast. We sometimes forget how well she can reach now and don't put things far back away from edges like we should. On Friday, Jason helped a co worker jump start his truck and the guy gave us some cake. Well Abby, having tasted the cake before and wanting more, saw the cake sitting on the edge of the table. She reached up, grabbed the cake and starting eating the entire slice while at the same time flinging frosting everywhere from the floor to the curtains. She was not a happy camper when mommy took it away. So after she settled down, we packed a picnic and headed up to Provo Canyon. Abby is definitely her parents child because she loves being outdoors as much as we do! So much space to wander in.

And trees to climb!

Fun times with Dad,

and Mom!

Unfortunately, we do not have any more pictures. Someone (me, i'll admit it) forgot to check to see if the battery in the camera was charged.
After our picnic, we walked for awhile on the Provo River trail near Bridal Veil Falls. It has been so long since we have had a little trip like this. It was the perfect thing to do for a birthday because it made me feel like I was young again. Back when we were younger and didn't have things like yard work and house projects to do on Saturdays, Jason and I would head up to the canyons every Saturday that we could! We loved driving, hiking and exploring! I think this was the first time in about 2 or 3 years that we had done this. After this birthday trip, it made me realize that while it is important to do get our projects done around the house, we also need to take some time more often to get out and have fun as a family. It gets so hard though since I have to work every other Saturday and it seems like Jason has something going on the weekends I am home.
The day was ended with a delicious dinner at La Carreta. Those of you who are local, you should go check this place out. If you haven't had Peruvian food before then you are missing out. I feel like it is our little secret too because whenever we go, there is never a wait. Quite rare for a restaurant in Utah County on a Saturday night.
Thank you all who sent birthday wishes my way. It was a wonderful day spent with my wonderful family!

Update

So it has been a while since I have posted on here. It seems that as the weather gets warmer, we get so much busier here. Jason has been working unbelievably long hours and so it seems like we haven't seen much of him. It also seems like there is some different errand to run every day and then there is always tons of work to do around the house. This little munchkin sure keeps me busy. Her favorite things to do are to pull things off of shelves and out of drawers and strew them all over the house. She also wants to be "mommy's little helper". Our next door neighbor gave us some toy cleaning supplies. Abby just loves the broom and dustpan and carries it all over the house with her! "Uncle" Ryan has been watching Larry the Dog and brought her over the other day (yes, she is a girl and her name is Larry). Larry is the best dog I have seen around kids. I guess her owner has a lot of kids and they all play on her. Abby just loved petting her!

If only we could find a dog this good with kids (and that didn't shed that much) we may just consider adopting it!

Abby has a favorite food, or should I say a favorite condiment! She loves ketchup! Depending on what we are eating, I will put ketchup on her high chair for her to dip food in but she always has to start out by dipping her finger in and licking it off! I usually have to give her seconds by the time she gets to her food.

And lastly, I know this picture is a little gross but I had to share! Poor little kid has been so congested lately. I think it must be allergies because she isn't getting better and she isn't getting worse. She has just been congested with a runny nose for about 2 weeks. Unfortunately, she probably inherited them from her mama.

I still have to figure out how to post some video on here. I recorded Abby dancing and it is the cutest thing you will ever see! She puts her hands near her armpits like a chicken and just twists and picks up her legs really high and turns in a circle! It is hilarious! The other day she was dancing during the credits of a movie and Jason had to rewind the song just to see her dance some more!
Abby has been talking a little bit more too. Unfortunately, her favorite word is "no". I guess I must say it way too much. Not only does she say it, but she wags her finger at you while saying "nononono"
But the best words of all she uttered the other night. Abby just came over to me and gave me a hug. I said "I love you" and she said "I wub woo". Jason and I were so excited!! However, I have only gotten her to say it once since then.
And lastly, there was Mothers Day. It was a simple yet fabulous day. Jason did all the cooking, I got to spend time with my little family (which doesn't seem to happen often enough these days) and to top it off, church was fabulous. All of the speakers and lessons just really seemed to hit home for me. Can I just say that I truly believe it is such a blessing to have this wonderful family. There truly is no greater calling than that of being a wife and mother and I am so thankful for my own mother and mother in law for all they do.
We love you!
